How to Make a Table in Notion

Notion has two kinds of tables: a lightweight **Simple Table** for static layouts, and a **Table database** when you want filters, views, and rich properties.

Insert a simple table

  1. On any page, type /table and choose Simple table.
  2. Pick the starting size; you can add rows and columns later by hovering on edges and clicking the + handles.
  3. Use the toolbar above the table to toggle a header row or column.

Create a table database instead

  1. Type /table and choose Table - Inline (or Table - Full page).
  2. Click the + in the column header to add properties: text, select, date, person, checkbox, and more.
  3. Click any cell to fill it in—each row is its own page you can open and expand.

Add views and filters

  1. In a database, click + Add view to add Board, Calendar, or Gallery views over the same data.
  2. Use Filter and Sort to focus the view without changing the underlying rows.

Convert between table types

A simple table cannot become a database, so pick the right one up front. If you outgrow a simple table, copy the values into a new table database.

Try it faster with guidance

Skip the trial-and-error—let Vocordia guide you through it with voice and on-screen cursor guidance so you can pick the right table and finish in one go.

There's a faster way.

Next time, employees can ask by voice and get step-by-step guidance inside the app - no manual, no ticket.
