How to Make a Video on Canva
Canva's video editor works like a slideshow with a timeline. You build scenes, drop in clips and text, then export an MP4 you can post anywhere.
Start a new video
- Open Canva and search for Video in the home page templates, or click Create a design → Video.
- Pick a template that matches your aspect ratio (16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels/TikTok, 1:1 for feed posts).
Build the timeline
- Each page is a scene. Click + Add page to add another scene.
- Drag clips from Uploads or Elements → Videos onto a page.
- Drag the edges of a clip on the timeline to trim, or click the clip and use the scissors to split it.
Add text, transitions, and audio
- Use Text to add titles; animate them via Animate in the top toolbar.
- Click between two pages on the timeline and choose Add transition.
- Drop a track from Audio onto the timeline; trim it the same way you trim video.
Export your video
Click Share → Download → file type MP4 Video, then choose quality and pages to include.
